"Fatherly Love" Nas poses with dad for new Gap "Love Comes in Every Shade" Campaign

Rapper, Nas is coming home for the holidays. The hip-hop icon poses for a family portrait with his father, jazz musician Olu Dara, in the 2012 holiday campaign for Gap called “Love Comes In Every Shade.” The father-son ads, entitled “Fatherly Love,” will be displayed at Gap stores worldwide.

“Me & Pops for The Gap. #LifeisGood,” tweeted Nas, who collaborated with his father on his 2004 single “Bridging the Gap.” (I wonder if that had anything to do with the ad placement.)

Other stars appearing in Gap’s campaign include: Michael J. Fox, Jack Huston, Rufus Wainwright, and Francis Ford Coppola.

Brand To Know: EQUMEN Undergarments

EQUMEN™, meaning Equality for Men, is a company that improves how men look and feel, while still being a well-styled undergarment. From London to New York to Sydney, men from the worlds of business, sport, and fashion embrace the brand and appreciate what it does for their body.
The media got quite excited too: one of the hottest launches to hit the shelves in 2009, EQUMEN'S™ range was named one of British GQ's picks of the year thanks to its cutting edge design and technology. It has been featured in major media outlets including Time Magazine, Men's Health, New York Times, Business Week, BBC Radio, The Guardian, The Times, Daily Mail, and on CNN, The Doctors, the Tonight Show, NBC, the Today Show and ABC News, just to name a few.
Created by a 40 year old man in 2007 that wanted to feel and look 10 years younger, EQUMEN™ is now proud to be distributed across several of the world's leading luxury retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Holt Renfrew, Selfridges, Brown Thomas and David Jones.
Technically-advanced compression garments had been developed to help athletes perform at their peak. Such garments were scientifically designed to increase blood flow to and from the muscles in order to improve performance, reduce the risk of injury, and accelerate muscle recovery.
Inspired By Elite Athletes
The inspiration of the line came from the sport category - specifically, the new compression garments designed for elite athletes. Just as in sport, modern men are subject to physical wear and tear - except on an everyday basis.
EQUMEN™ found that by incorporating athletic technologies into undergarments that could be worn under a business suit, casual wear or for sport, the average guy could benefit from such engineering. Genius.

"I am very excited to be involved with EQUMEN™. The product's support is very unique and comfortable while working out or for casual wear."-Josh Bidwell Washington Redskins

Fusing Science with Style

I'm thoroughly impressed with the layout of the EQUMEN™ line, quite the stylish undergarment. In conjunction with a group of experts across the sport science, physiotherapy, and fashion industries, EQUMEN™ fused the physiological insights of advanced sportswear with modern styling to create patented undergarments that deliver against men's daily ergonomic needs. The result is a range of innovative products that truly advance the benefits men's underwear and can provide: improved posture, reduced back pain, and a more stable core. It also always you visibly to appear slimmer when wearing tighter clothing by acting as shape wear.

The X-Stylez Blog puts EQUMEN™ to the test
I enlisted in the help of actor/model Jarret Janako to assist me in doing a product review. Jarret thoroughly enjoys working out and has to remain in shape for his profession, so I knew he would give a stiff critique. When first trying on the EQUMEN™ core precision undershirt with built in physiotherapy and helix mapping he said,
"It really holds everything in, very comfortable"

Jarret says,
" The core precision tank is a perfect fit, very slimming! I really feel the support in my back, I've never tried on a tank like it. Supportive undergarments are very important when working out and I think they've mastered it".

I asked Jarret to demonstrate one of his favorite workouts (running) and as you can see from the pictures, the sleekness of the tank really allows him to focus on what he's doing rather than stopping in between sets to "re-tuck" his tank... we've all been there and after a while those droopy ribbed A-shirts just get old. Designed with ergonomic products, the seamless EQUMEN™ tank gets a pass from The X-Stylez Blog and intrigues us to try other products from their line like: the precision undershirt in crew and v-neck, precision underwear (brief and boxer-breif) and precision socks.

Be sure to check out EQUMEN™'s website here to get better acquainted with their products.

Mr. Bathing Ape x Regal 2012 Fall/Winter Mustache Penny Loafers

Following a look at past collaborations which included Brogue and STA Wingtips, Bathing Ape's more plush men's line "Mr. Bathing Ape" has teamed up in collaboration with once again with Regal Co. Setting forth their design principles on a Penny Loafer for Fall/Winter 2012, the stylish and timeless piece features a stark black color with minimal branding and classic slip-on appeal. How many of you remember growing up and putting on your Sunday's Best and foot fighting with your mom to put of those darn penny lovers over thick socks *raises hand*. Well now, those penny loafers have been upgraded to a mustache motif and we here at The X-Stylez blog are kinda feeling it. What do you think?
I'The shoes are now available at I.T in Hong Kong for $3,599 HKD (approximately $464 USD).

We think the tag is kinda gody but if it works go for it! However, the mustache is branding enough.

Big Sean Shows "How to Dress For Winter Without a Coat" in the November Issue Of GQ

I take it G.O.O.D. Music rapper, Big Sean has been reading The X-Stylez Blog because we just covered this Monday... guess we know a little something (ha)

Big Sean shows you “How to Dress for Winter Without a Coat” in the November 2012 issue of GQ magazine:
Dressing well in winter can be tricky. The conundrum: How do you fight the big chill without getting deathly sick of your giant winter coat? Short answer: Leave the coat in the back of the closet as long as possible by learning to layer up.
The field vest, once thought of as a blue-collar staple for postal workers and Wichita linemen, is now office-ready, thanks to high-fashion designers like Belstaff and lower-cost hubs like Club Monaco. The vest’s lightweight quilting adds warmth without bulking up your flannel suit or that new tweed sports jacket you just snapped up.
1. Let the Collar Pop
This collar should spread its wings over your lapel for a flyer look.

Vest, $395 by Belstaff. Suit by Club Monaco. Shirt by Gant Rugger. Tie by David Hart & Co. Tie bar by The Tie Bar. Hat by Grevi at Barneys New York. Watch (throughout) by Rolex.

2. Cop Some Copper
Navy is a safe bet, but copper and olive are unimpeachable fall classics. Bonus: A vest doesn't bulk up the slim sleeves of your jacket.

Vest, $150 by Woolrich Woolen Mills. Suit jacket by Ovadia & Sons. Shirt by J.Crew. Tie by Topman. Tie bar by The Tie Bar. Jeans by A.P.C. Hat by Aviator Nation.

3. Tuck Your Scarf
Never wonder what to do with the floppy scarf tail again. Tuck it into your field vest and you're fully bundled.

Vest, $275 by AllSaints. Scarf by Smart Turnout. Blazer by Burberry London. Sweater by A.P.C. Jeans by Saturdays NYC.

4. Suit Up!
As mentioned in the blog post Monday, switch out that 3rd piece and freshen up your suit or suit separate with a thin vest. It completely changes the look.

Vest, $170 by Club Monaco. Suit by Michael Kors. Shirt by J.Lindeberg. Tie by Nobis. Pocket square from KSI NYC.
