Male Fashion at Teen Choice Awards 2012

Gone are the tailored tuxedos, velvet dinner jackets, patent leather shoes and boring black and white silhouettes that usually clutter up more premiere award shows. Last night the 2012 Teen Choice Awards red carpet was filled with stylish male fashion reminiscent of the summer. In other words we loved every minute of it! This year's TCA did not disappoint and gave us here at The X Stylez Blog great gratification in knowing many of the styles photographed coincide with past blog posts featured on the site. Here at the blog, we love looking to awards shows because not only are they fashion overload, but what better way to get affordable style inspirations than to see what the leading socialites in Hollywood are wearing? With that being said lets get into BEST DRESSED MALE.... (drum roll please)

It was a toss up between TCA host and Glee star Kevin McHale and musical genius and fashion icon Will.i.Am. I have pondered on this decision all morning (lol)... however, I think I'm going to have to give it to Kevin; reason being is because I believe the overall outfit put forth more effort. Now Will's style is very similar to my own and a pair a Christian Louboutin plaid intern flat slippers and a blazer is a winning combo all day in my book, but we've seen it all before. Will kills the studded loafer game religiously however, this is a "new" stylish side of Kevin that we never see. I love the tonal shirt with wingtips mixed with the straight leg camouflage pant. McHale's ensemble is appropriate not only for the sunny LA weather but for the youthful occasion. Although I want to take Will's outfit home with me today, the stylist in me has to give it to Kevin HANDS DOWN for pulling off this look effortlessly by making it look all too easy.

Check out  other great male fashion from the 2012 Teen Choice Awards below.

Big Sean- It seems as though G.O.O.D music mentor to Big Sean, Kanye West has inspired
his leather pants look for the summer. Sean put a twist on the pant by rocking a drop
                  crotch harem pant---Pretty Dope!

Darren Criss

Ellen Degeneres- Although Ellen is not a man, she embodies male fashion on a daily basis and might we say
                          and very well.

Jackson Rathbone

Joe Janas

Adrian Young and Tony Kandal of No Doubt

On the scene: Justin Bieber in Balenciaga Patchwork High-top Sneakers

Fly guy, Justin Bieber stepped out of his chrome 2012 Fisker Karma (Sick Car) with his style game proper. He wore a gray snapback cap turned backwards as he matched a yellow graphic printed t-shirt with a pair of multicolored Balenciaga patchwork high-top sneakers ($595), and skinny jeans. Justin knows how to make his street style work for him. #WeApprove, do you?

If you want some colorful kicks on a budget, check out The Official Creative Recreation website here.

P.S----- Here's one more look at the whip

The Male Brooch Epidemic

The early Christian period made a great advance in its effect on brooches throughout the fifth and sixth centuries. Its influence brought the addition of symbols and inscriptions to the necessary brooch, helping along with the Byzantines, to push the brooch towards its ornamental character. The earliest known brooches were from the Bronze Age.

Within fashion brooches are viewed as accessories most commonly worn by women, however new advancements have been more accepting by the male species.  There aren't that many fashion accessories for men when one considers the sheer volume that exist for our female counterparts. And of those that do exist, quite often you find that they’re heavily associated with a sub-culture or movement that you’re simply not interested in associating yourself with.  Brooches for men are, however, one of the few men’s accessories which can cross the sub-culture divides, are perfect for both Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons, and are slowly making a come-back.

Recently male celebrities have been making new waves in fashion with wearing brooches.

Justin Bieber wore this Yves Saint Laurent brooch during the 2011 MTV awards.

Photo'd here is rapper Big Sean also wearing YSL brooches.

In January I blogged about Best Dressed Man: Idris Elba at the Golden Globes due to his styling and also his flower brooch.

Even Simon Cowell influential in developing American Idol and X Factor wears a floral brooch.

And who can forget Kanye's 808s and Heartbreak album art with his infamous heart brooch.

Suggestions on things to use as brooches: Look around your house and see what you can make useful. Anything that can pierce or clap onto the clothing item you tend to add a brooch can work, use good intentions. Below are some things you might have lying around:

As you can see brooches have crossed over as a male epidemic. Here are some inspiration pictures you can try at home:

This is a little much, however it's my job to report this stuff because somebody likes it.

Recently, I've been talking a lot about unisex clothing options in my posts. My mission is to hopefully inspire you to think "outside of the box" when getting dressed. Again as men our options are limited but that's not an excuse! Hopefully, as you read more posts you can take some ideas and apply it to your wardrobe lifestyle. In fact that's the entire mission of this blog. Thanks for reading!
